No Smoking Policy
Tiddlywinks Pre-School is committed to achieving the five outcomes for children as stated in ‘The Early Years Foundation Stage’. When considering smoking on our premises the ‘be healthy’ outcome is paramount, we wish to provide a smoke free environment for all young children.
Aims
· To protect the children and staff from exposure to second hand smoke.
· To raise awareness of the dangers associated with exposure to tobacco smoke
Restrictions on smoking
· Smoking is not permitted in any part of the premises, entrances or grounds at anytime, by any person regardless to their status or business with the pre-school.
· All visitors, contractors and deliverers are required to abide by the no smoking policy. Staff members should remind parents and visitors of the no smoking policy. However they are not expected to enter into any confrontations which may put their personal safety at risk.
· Staff and parents are not permitted to smoke when taking part in pre-school trips and visits.
· Staff are not permitted to smoke prior to starting their shift or during their working hours. Any smoking related odour detected on staff, they will be required to either remove the odour where possible or leave the premises.
